What have we learnt from international coverage of Covid?

Date/Time: April 30, 2021 12:00:00 - 13:30:00

Now that we in the UK have lived with Covid for more than a year, it’s time to take stock of how well the media has served us in this period.

Media consumption, particularly of news has skyrocketed, with audiences gripped by daily Covid updates. The public service broadcasters – the BBC, ITV, Channels 4 and 5 – have seen record numbers for live viewing of their main TV news bulletins. But how successful have they been at giving audiences a truly international perspective, that is so essential if the UK is to play its role in the world?

In this event, which IBT is holding jointly with the Media Reform Coalition, we’ll hear from a range of speakers including Liliane Landor, Foreign Editor at Channel 4 News and a former BBC News executive. We’ll also hear from two IBT member organisations, Amref Health UK and the ONE Campaign.
